Every morning this summer (or at least, M-Th unless I get a ride) I will be hopping on the 6:30 or 7 am train from Stony Brook, followed by a bus ride from Jamaica to the Shops at Atlas Park.
Then I get to do it all over again at 5 pm.
Being an adult kind of sucks. But in some ways, it’s still like being a kid.
For instance.. I still never have the cereal I want. My dad still takes me out to lunch on weekends, and upon dropping me off somewhere always tells me to “Kick some ass.”
You don’t know how confusing that was as a twelve-year-old, and you were just going in to hand in an art project. Whose ass should be kicked? The project? The teacher? That annoying kid sitting in front of you?
But I digress. The reason for this blog topic is going to be a homage of sorts to the people I meet on my commute.
Today’s “Spotted” goes out to 3 people. I thought to grab a picture just a little too late, but next time I will have one.
The first 2 are members of the elusive pack called “I bring my bicycle on the morning train”. I applaud you, 2 girls who look like they would be more at home in California or Oregon. But they were wearing helmets and had pretty awesome bikes, so they get a mention for today.
The 3rd person is an enigma. He manages to combine something I love (cycling) with something I hate (Bluetooth). I have never seen this creature before, and I applaud his dedication to his phone call as he biked down Jamaica- next to the city buses that care even less than in Savannah.
An honorable mention goes to one of the high school students on the train. You sir, had a tray of cupcakes. I applaud your dedication in keeping them away from me.
