MEN WHO DON’T DISAPPOINT ME- A Breakdown

Posted by Caila On February - 26 - 2010

MEN WHO DON’T DISAPPOINT ME was a one time spectacular aired from the magnificent hours of 10 p.m. to Midnight on February 23. DJ Rambler took a break for the night and allowed The President and DJ Canuck to invade the airwaves with men who don’t disappoint them- Neil Patrick Harris, Alex Suarez & Ryland Blackinton, Bruce “THE BOSS” Springsteen and Tracy Morgan were among them.

Want to hear more of this glorious show? Comment on this post and perhaps in the coming quarters it will be revived or even *gasp* become a regular shift!

We started off the show with a reason of why we don’t like certain men… and then moved on to showcase the men who don’t disappoint us.

This post was also featured on SCAD Radio

1. Male Primadonna by Subtle Sexuality (From The Office)

This song contains all the reasons why some men disappoint us… yet we still kinda need ‘em.

“You’re a male prima donna
But I can’t help but want ‘cha
I’m an independent diva
But I still kinda need ya
Together we’re apart
It’s tearing up my heart
I’m in hell and nirvana
’cause you’re my male Prima Donna”

2. Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit by Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris)

Barney Stinson (How I Met Your Mother) may be a womanizer, but he’s our favorite womanizer. He has had a perfect week (Which honestly, let’s give him props), he always knows how to compliment a lady and always wears perfectly pressed suits (Unless he’s down in the dumps or trying to beat the Murtaugh List).

He gets an A+++ for looks, a -1000 for womanizing, and an A for charm. Thanks Barney Stinson.

3. Save Ginny Weasley by Harry and the Potters

The Harry Potter series is one of my all time favorites. And seeing Harry and the Potters was one of the best experiences I’ve had. A tiny church basement in Brooklyn, an opening band made up of a keytarist, a guitarist, a man with a megaphone and sock puppets, and dancing with one of the “Potters”- so much fun.

Also, who can resist their charming Gryffindor ties and grey sweaters? Not this Gryffindor.

This reminds me.. where’s the nearest Wizard Rock concert?

4. Razzle Dazzle by Richard Gere (From Chicago)

He may play a jerk without a heart in Chicago. But he’s Richard Gere.

That is all.

5. Lobster Building by Uncle Monsterface (Letter Green, I Love You)

Aaand… here’s that opening band.

I think you can see from the picture how amazing they are. While they sang their song “Derockracy” they had an American eagle flying on a screen behind them with the American flag and a sock puppet show.

I’ll also link you to one of their songs so you can tell how amazing they are from their lyrics.

Uncle Monsterface

6. All Over Again by Locksley

These Madison transplants currently live in Brooklyn and are the loves of my life.

OK, maybe that’s exaggerating. But I do love their music and their live performances.

The drummer is charmingly adorable and always takes the time to speak with fans, the guitarist and bassist are super sweet, and while the lead singer is a little cocky what else would you expect? (Just kidding, Jesse) The best part about them? They’re all taller than me. WIN.

7. (You’re) Timeless to Me by Christopher Walken and John Travolta

This combination is part of the reason why I love this movie so much.

8. The World Has Its Shine (But I Would Drop it On A Dime) by Cobra Starship

I’ve seen Cobra Starship too many times for them not to make a list of men who don’t disappoint me. Vicky-T is the sole lady in this group (Although sometimes we could count Gabe Saporta as a fancy lady) and the fact that she can put up with all of them means that they must be a good group.

Alex, Nate and Ryland are some of the sweetest guys I’ve met, even if I did make fun of him for not having a sharpie marker.

9. Werewolf Bar Mitzvah by Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan)

He’s Tracy Morgan!

10. Go the Distance by Hercules

Hercules is one of my favorite Disney movies. And I love Greek Mythology.

Done and Done.

Also, he’s kinda really bumbling and learns that being cocky isn’t necessary! He can be confident but all that matters in the end is true love!!

11. Rambling through the Avenues of Time by Flight of the Conchords

Just look at this picture!!

This is one of my favorite TV shows, and I love this song. So adorable! The only way they disappointed me is by having the show cancelled.

12. O Come All Ye Faithful by Twisted Sister

I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist.

13. These Days Are Dark by Harry and the Potters

No picture necessary, we all know these guys and why they don’t disappoint me!

14. Let’s Dance to Joy Division by The Wombats

Look how adorable they are!

This song is just too cute.

15. Empty Sky by Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band

When you look up “THE BOSS” in the dictionary, you see a picture of Bruce Springsteen.

Ok, maybe that’s not true… but when you google “THE BOSS” he’s the first thing that comes up.

We’re going to blame UK for this one (Uncle Keith, for those of you not in the Fonseca Family circle). From a young age I have been bombarded with Bruce Springsteen in all forms- deadly car trips where we sing along, going through the archives of Bruce material, crotch shots from the Super Bowl…

But no matter what he does, I always love me some boss. Therefore, he is a man who does not disappoint me.

16. All of This by Blink 182

Travis Barker. Drum solo. IN THE SKY.

17. This Too Shall Pass by OK Go

I can always count on these guys to provide an entertaining music video.

MARCHING BAND FTW!

18. Neutra Face: An Ode on a Typeface by Bearded Poker Face Parodies

They have taken a guilty pleasure song of mine (PokerFace) and turned it into a slightly more acceptable version (Neutra Face).

“I lay it out like they do in magazines
check out this typeface it’s like smoking nicotine (I love it)
using Adobe’s not the same without a Mac
if it was lead it would be lined up on a track”

Neutra Face: An Ode on a Typeface

19. Freeze Ray by Neil Patrick Harris (Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog)

Neil Patrick Harris. Again.

I love Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog. It got me through the writer’s strike and gets me through sad days where I want to follow along with the story of a villain.

Laundry day
See you there
Under things
Tumbling
Wanna say
Love your hair
Here I go
Mumbling

20. London Bridges by This Is Ivy League

I’ve already talked about how adorable Alex and Ryland are. And this is their solo project.

21. Toy Food by Neil Cicierega

Neil also does Potter Puppet Pals. So this is adorable.

22. Worthy of Survival by Bear McCreary

This song is from the Battlestar Galactica soundtrack. These men may sometimes be disappointing, but we love them anyway (Except for Gaius Baltar).

23. Put Down the Remote by Neil Patrick Harris

So here was the first, and quite possibly only edition of MEN WHO DON’T DISAPPOINT ME.
